He served as the “Colonial Superintendent of British Affairs” and aided in keeping relationships between the Iroquois and the British friendly. His relationship with the Native Americans was improved when Johnson married two Mohawk women throughout his life, the second being Molly Brant. Joseph Brant was born in Ohio Country, somewhere along the river and is the brother of Molly Brant. Joseph became a political leader and prominent member of the Mohawk.
